Pilates using the BASI® Method

Pilates based on the BASI® method (Body Arts and Science International) combines classical Pilates with modern insights from anatomy, biomechanics, and kinesiology.

Through the comprehensive CTTC (Comprehensive Teacher Training Course) training on the mat and on Pilates equipment—such as the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Spine Corrector, etc.—a high-quality, precise, and individually tailored movement training program is created.

The focus is on mindful movement, body control, stability, and a balanced interplay of strength, flexibility, and breathing. Each exercise is tailored to individual needs and goals—regardless of age, fitness level, or physical limitations.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a holistic form of physical training designed to strengthen the deep muscles and improve posture, flexibility, and body awareness. The method was developed over 100 years ago by physical trainer Joseph H. Pilates. The BASI® method is a further development by Rael Isacowitz.

The following areas are specifically targeted:

  • the core
  • posture and spinal stability
  • flexibility and joint function
  • coordination and balance
  • breathing and concentration

The movements are performed in a controlled, precise, and fluid manner—on the mat or using specialized Pilates equipment.

Functions and Effect

Improved Posture
By activating the deep core muscles, the spine is stabilized and an upright posture is supported.

Strengthening of the Deep Muscles
The abdominal, back, and pelvic floor muscles, in particular, are specifically strengthened and functionally integrated.

Promotion of Flexibility and Mobility
Tight or shortened muscle groups are stretched, joints are mobilized, and movement patterns are improved.

Improved Coordination and Body Control
Pilates trains conscious movement and the interaction between the muscles and the nervous system.

Breathing and relaxation techniques
The specific Pilates breathing technique enhances the quality of movement and promotes concentration and inner calm.

Prevention and recovery
Pilates can help prevent poor posture and overexertion and gently rebuild the body after discomfort or injury.

Training Goals

  • Building a stable core
  • Improving posture and movement quality
  • Strengthening without overexertion
  • Increasing mobility and flexibility
  • Improving balance and coordination
